This landscape design project involved the conversion of a 17-storey tower block into an extra-care facility for the over-60s with integral services such as café and hairdressers.
Stakeholders in the project included Manchester City Council, Northwards Housing Association and Wates.
Lingard Farrow Styles provided hard landscape design and a planting plans for the grounds of the facility. The design approach focused on creating a series of interlinked spaces and garden areas designed for healthy and active living. These spaces included outdoor games areas, sensory gardens, an outdoor gym, and food growing areas.

Lingard Farrow Styles worked with the NHS Trust at Whitchurch Community Hospital to develop this new patient, visitor and staff sensory garden and landscape design. Sensory elements including water and plants formed the main design with paving and seating areas to allow hospital beds to be wheeled out into the sunshine. Physiotherapy exercise equipment was installed on the lawn.
Lingard Farrow Styles developed a hard and soft landscape design for 32 dwellings for independent living for the elderly for Shropshire Housing Group (Meres and Mosses Housing Association). The site was a former care home and featured existing trees which were incorporated into the landscape design's communal spaces.
